| Single layer parallel plate capacitors, with fixed values, are constructed as square or rectangular chips and diced from thin ceramic wafers. Our ceramics are made of proprietary titanate formulations (primarily barium) that produce a variety of dielectrics with relative k factors ranging from 40 to 30,000. These dielectrics are grouped according to industry standard classes 1, 2, 3, & 4 based on the effect changes in temperature have on their dielectric properties. These capacitors are specifically designed for stripline or microstrip circuits for applications with 1GHz or higher frequency. They are commonly attached on the microstrip with conductive epoxy, eutectic preforms or solder, and connected to circuit elements or terminations by gold wires. Tecdia's capacitors are constructed with straight, perpendicular sides, and 90o corners. Electrode designs include those that cover the entire surface area of the ceramic plate's face, and those that have a bare ceramic border on all four sides of the electrode.
All capacitors supplied by Tecdia must pass 100% six-sided microscopic visual inspection and come from a wafer lot that has passed Tecdia's prescribed electrical, mechanical, and environmental tests. The accepted parts are packaged in waffle packs, usually 100 pieces per pack. Custom screening for special requirements is also done, subject to Tecdia's acceptance. This includes parts used in space and other high reliability systems.
