DC Power Boards

Tecdia's product lines of DC Power Boards were developed to meet the requirements for supplying bias voltage and current to GaAs/GaN FET amplifiers. They are designed to bring a number of functions together in one board to convert, regulate and manage the power required for FET operation from a single positive power supply. There are a variety of designs so you can choose the features you need for a specific application. Basic designs have a positive drain voltage regulator, a DC/DC convertor and regulator for the negative gate voltage, and an output sequence circuit switch for FET protection. A FET that requires a negative voltage supplied to its gate and a positive one to its drain can be damaged or destroyed if the drain is powered before the gate, controlling the sequence is critical. Our boards make sure the drain output switch is kept closed until sufficient gate voltage is output, and will stay open only if sufficient gate voltage is maintained. We have boards with added features, like a TTL switch or manual potentiometer, stripped down designs when certain features are not needed and even types that only supply negative gate voltage. The choice is yours.

TFP Series

Our earliest board designs, these legacy products produce negative gate voltage from the positive input power, stabilized both the negative output to the gate and the positive drain voltage to GaAs FETs. They also have a sequencing function to that outputs drain voltage after first outputting gate voltage.

TFS Series

These boards have the same functions of the TFP series, plus an added on/off switch to control the positive drain voltage output by applying an external TTL level signal.

TFV Series

This series has the same functions as the TFP series, with a second negative gate voltage output terminal added which can be mechanically adjusted using the on board potentiometer.

TMF Series

These power boards have the same basic functions as the TFP series, but because a MOSFET is used for the positive drain voltage stabilizing circuit, the difference between input and output voltages to and from the DC board are reduced, curbing loss. The maximum current for positive drain voltage for these boards has been expanded to 20 A.

TMS Series

These boards have the same functions of the TMF series, plus an added on/off switch to control the positive drain voltage output by applying an external TTL level signal.

SFP Series

This series has a simple design that outputs negative gate voltage and positive drain voltage, and also has sequencing functions, but does not stabilize the input used to supply the positive drain voltage. By relying on the stability of input voltage, the only loss to control is that from the switch circuit, meaning loss can be kept low.

T3M Series

This series has an even simpler DC/DC converter design that only functions to output negative gate voltage from positive input voltage, and does not have a function to output positive drain voltage.

TGS Series

This series has the same functions as the TFS series, except they are custom made to supply the optimal drain voltage for the GaN FET or MMIC being used, within a range of +24V to +50V.
